Decisions

Use AI reasoning where it helps, and fast decisions where it’s a judgment call, with thresholds you control.

Why

Some steps shouldn’t be a long AI reasoning loop. They’re a bounded judgment: which bucket, yes or no, how urgent. Tico runs these as decision questions:

  1. You define a question.
  2. The model returns probabilities, in about 200 milliseconds. It writes no prose, so it can’t invent facts.
  3. Your code acts on thresholds you set. Below the threshold, it’s left for a human.

That makes these steps fast, cheap, predictable, and easy to audit.

Three kinds of question

TypeAnswersExample
Yes/noHow likely it’s trueDoes this email involve money?
ChoiceOne of a setArchive, reply, route, or needs the owner?
ScoreAn ordered levelNot urgent, this week, today, or right now?

It’s the same format as OpenRouter’s Decisions API. Any bot or workflow can ask with hub decision ask. Decisions use Jev from TypeSafe, an optional add-on you turn on with a TypeSafe key.

Example: sorting an inbox

For each new email, Tico asks which bucket it belongs in, whether it asks for something, whether money or legal risk is involved, and how urgent it is. It archives only when at least 85% sure, and marks mail as needing the owner at 70%. Everything else waits for a human.

Decisions that ship today

DecisionWhat it decides
Inbox sortingWhich bucket each email goes in, whether it’s a request, money or legal, and how urgent.
Draft checkWhether a draft commits you to money or a date, confirms a meeting time, or claims something the thread doesn’t support. Flagged drafts are marked for a human.
DuplicatesWhether a new message, lead, or task is already one of the open items.
ListeningWhich inboxes a saved post belongs to (market, content, leads), and how to rank search results for review.
Reply intentWhat an unclear sales reply means, after the fixed opt-out rules.
Slack routingWhether a message asks for something, replies to the last bot, or names a bot.

Decisions sort, flag, and route. They don’t send anything. Bots draft outbound email until sending is turned on for each bot.
